Restorative Yoga Classes in Arcadia – Phoenix
Restorative yoga is also commonly referred to as recovery yoga. If you’ve suffered an illness or injury and are looking for the ideal way to get back into shape and into practice, restorative yoga may very well be exactly what you need.
The idea behind this type of practice is to slow down and aid the body in its recovery through passive, meaningful poses and stretches. Postures are held for long durations, usually two to five minutes, to target tight connective tissues and allow your muscles to relax. Your mind resets and rests in a meditative state.
THE BENEFITS OF RESTORATIVE YOGA
There are numerous benefits to practicing this type of yoga. Some of these benefits include:
- 1. Reduced stress and anxiety
- 2 Reduced levels of cortisol, the stress hormone
- 3. Better nervous system function
- 4. Higher quality sleep
- 5. Mental and physical balance promotion
- 6. Promotion of bodily repair
- 7. Safe to practice during pregnancy
The focus of restorative yoga is on releasing – releasing tension, releasing stress, and releasing pain and injury. It’s all about healing by simply remaining still. Doing so stimulates the organs and releases tension throughout the body by holding postures that are designed for comfort and support.
